Croatia set to receive HRK 800mn for low-carbon development

28.06.2017  10:30
The EU will invest EUR 17bn in 7 years in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 80-95% under the EU's low-carbon strategy and Croatia will receive more than HRK 800mn (some EUR 108mn) in the next four years, state secretary within the energy ministry, Mario Siljeg, said at a conference in Zagreb.

The country joined the Paris Climate Agreement on June 23 thus committing to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 40% until 2030.

Siljeg also stated that Croatia has emitted a small amount of greenhouse gases but global climate change brings challenges.

Investing in energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources is to contribute the most for this purpose.
