Nordics Exposed at Weekend Media Festival 2017

Nordics Exposed is a unique in-house exhibition made by the Nordic embassies in Croatia. The exhibition presents Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden through their values, ideas, and challenges.

The joint Nordic project supported by Nordic Council of Ministers premiered from 21st to 24th of September in the coastal town of Rovinj, the venue of the biggest regional festival of communication industry - Weekend Media Festival.

Despite a largely positive image of Nordic countries in Croatia and the region, the people of the North sometimes seem to far to comprehend or differ from each other.

Outreach of the embassies wants to show that shared values, simple ideas, collaboration, and determination can make things better. The Nordic model is not only possible in the North, but can be found in any environment where people are open-minded and ready for co-operation.

Nordic ambassadors, including Danish ambassador to Croatia Christian Thorning, opened the exhibition stating the long lasting ties and joint forward-thinking of Nordic nations.

Except the exhibited pannels, which were communicating Nordic values, countries were represented through a series of lectures. Danish lecturers, Dennis Kirkebæk and Martin Hjort Frederiksen, talked about Roskilde Festival with an emphasis on the festival as a city. Lecturers also wanted to bring the "Orange Feeling" to the audience by metaphorically drawing parallels between festival organisers and festival goers with the Danish national values in the whole.

Exposed ideas from the North want to engange one's critical thinking, give a good example and direction to the present time through sustainability and utilitarian approaches both to the business and private segments of life. One of the many Nordic values presented is also the unbreakable relationship between the individual, his benefit to society and his/her family. If all items are not in balance, there is no real progress.
