Ambassador visits the Mayor of Pićan, Istria, and ROCKWOOL Adriatic

On Wednesday 18th of April 2018, Ambassador Christian Thorning met with the Mayor of Pićan, Mr. Ivan Frankovic in the Town Hall office. The mayor gave the Ambassador an insight in the current developments in Pićan including on investments in hotel capacities, promotion of agricultural tours and the huge infrastructure development in the municipality. The discussing also touched on the issue of the regional organisation of Croatia compared with the reforms undertaken in Denmark some 10 years ago.

Afterwards, the Ambassador visited the plant of ROCKWOOL Adriatic situated in the valley of Pićan. The Ambassador had the opportunity to meet with the senior management and to visit the production facilities.

At the end of the visit, the Ambassador stated: “I'm glad to see that such a Danish investment is doing business successfully in Croatia. Also, it is my pleasure to see a high level of cooperation and mutual respect between the factory and the local and regional administration in Istria. I think that Croatian companies can learn much from Danish companies and society in general, but also, Danes can learn a lot from Croats. That is why our role is to create a platform for sharing positive experiences, all in order to advance the economy and the entire community. One of the similarities between our two countries is the large number of populated islands, and for this reason, we will focus on sustainable development of our islands, including energy efficiency, already this autumn".
