The Embassy organized an event on contemporary Danish literature and Karen Blixen

On Tuesday, 12 June 2018, the Embassy organized an event in the Müller Hall of Kino EUROPA in Zagreb together with the Croatian Philological Society. The background of the event was a special issue of the magazine Književna smotra (Literary Review) dedicated to the famous Danish author Karen Blixen and to contemporary Danish literature.

At the event was screened a French documentary from 2017 about the life and work of Karen Blixen, African Night’s Dream (French: Karen Blixen, le songe d'une nuit africaine, Croatian: San afričke noći), instructed by Elisabeth Kapnist.

Before the screening, H.E. Ambassador Christian Thorning greeted the audience followed by presentations and discussions by the editors of the magazine, Dalibor Blažina and Irena Lukšić, and the translator Đurđica Žlebačić Sorensen. Andrija Škare modified the discussions. As a special guest, the Danish writer Niels Frank also participated in the discussions and presented his works in the context of the contemporary Danish literature scene.
